Altostratus Clouds

Altostratus Clouds are middle-level clouds that are composed of water droplets, and ice crystals. In the Gulf region, cloud bases are generally at 15,000 to 20,000 feet. These clouds are white to gray in color, and they sometimes obscure the sun or moon. They often precede storm systems and indicate potential for precipitation.
